Earlier this month I was lucky enough to put together the sweetest baby shower for my dear cousins. Last year it was this fun outdoor Gatsby bridal shower for them, and this year a baby shower, with no specific theme, but filled with nods of the parents-to-be’s favorite childhood storybooks and puppies. Orange blooms, touches of navy blue and soft neutrals, brightened the quaint room at Amelia’s Bistro for a shower simple enough for Mommy, and with just the right amount of adorableness for the arrival of a new baby boy. Each lovely lady’s place setting greeted them with hand calligraphed bulldog place cards I had done, and the cutest tea filled envelope, a la Alice in Wonderland, a favorite of the mommy-to-be. The Alice in Wonderland touches continued, with vintage storybook pages placed atop a polka-dot runner, nestled underneath each grouping of florals in vintage painted mason jars. Chester the Cat also found his way onto another fun Purse Game, which was placed along other adorable notecards asking each lady to write down their wishes for the baby, and advice for the new parents.
Another fun part, having everyone write words onto diapers for when baby changing time comes. Seriously, some ladies had the funniest things to say! In lieu of cards, each guest was asked to bring a book for the baby, which we displayed alongside some of the parents-to-be’s favorite character toys and books when they were children.
The final touch, but of course, the sweetest naked floral cake topped with the most adorable baby Converse sneakers, and glittery topper, and cake pops and baby themed cookies made by mommy-to-be’s sister.
