I don’t know what it is about South Florida that brings all these ridiculously good restaurants, but I sure am glad that I’m down here to try them all. I don’t know how I haven’t gained a million pounds since moving down here, what with all of the eating out I do. It’s a good thing I love working out!
Bubby and I went out to dinner on our weekly dinner date and as she was telling me how to get there, we pulled into the same little plaza where my favorite Starbucks is. I’ve gone to the same Starbucks since I started working at my job in January and I never ever noticed that right next door is a restaurant. I have no idea how I hadn’t noticed this gigantic restaurant before right on the corner of the strip plaza. I must seriously be in a morning haze every time I go there — no wonder I need the coffee! I have never heard of Kee Grill, nor have I read anything about it anywhere, but it is obviously a very popular place because we walked into a busy, happening restaurant with full tables, a full bar and a line of people waiting. It’s a good thing Bubby made us a reservation.
Kee Grill is an absolutely adorable place. The decor is very “island-esque,” with bamboo-adorned walls and oversized beach umbrellas covering some of the tables in the center of the room. The menu is right up my alley with mostly seafood dishes. I got the Palm Beach Snapper (top left) served in a provençale sauce with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and hearts of palm. The dish comes with two sides, so I chose the mashed sweet potatoes and their most popular side, spinach maria (middle left). I could have eaten just the spinach and been completely content — creamy spinach topped with breadcrumbs, baked to a crisp. The snapper was really good, and I love anything with artichokes. Bubby got the broiled sea scallops (bottle left) with spinach maria and grilled asparagus. She says the place is known for their scallops and especially known for the spinach maria. The food was really good, but as always, we couldn’t leave without dessert. We got the apple crisp (right) topped with vanilla ice cream and a caramel-pecan sauce. Mmmm, it was so good. There is just something about warm baked apples and vanilla ice cream — it’s a perfect combination.
