A New Collaboration – The Cutting Garden Collective

By Julie King

I have been wanting to offer courses in my garden for a few years now, but have always found reasons not too. In August last year I met Brigitte, the very talented florist who made the beautiful floral arrangements for my mothers funeral and we started talking about a possible collaboration. At the time my own commitments looking after my very sick mother made it seem unlikely to happen, but with the sadness of my mothers passing also comes the gift of time and so we have resumed our plans.

With the new year upon us we decided it was time to put our talking into action and I am very happy to announce that Peonies & Posies and Moss & Stone have joined forces as The Cutting Garden Collective. To start things off we are planning a series of Gather & Grow workshops, the first of which will be on 4th May. Booking is to be made via Brigitte's website and the full details of the course as advertised on her website are below:

Gather & Grow for Spring - 4th May 2017

The Cutting Garden Collective - an exciting new collaborative venture between Julie of Peonies & Posies and Brigitte of Moss & Stone.

On this rather special workshop Julie and Brigitte will provide expert guidance on how to successfully grow beautiful flowers for cutting in your garden and then artfully decorate your home with your own carefully nurtured freshly picked blooms.
Taking place in the inspiring atmosphere of Julie's stunning cutting garden just outside Bury St Edmunds you will receive a full day of practical and hands on guidance. With her many years of growing experience Julie will give you the skills and confidence you need to sow, plan and plant a gorgeous cutting patch of your own for a continuous supply of blooms to arrange and enjoy. She will show you around her garden, talk about her growing year, discuss various seed sowing techniques and how to successfully start off your dahlias and chrysanthemums. You will get your hands dirty with a bit of seed sowing which will be yours to take home.
After a delicious light lunch, Brigitte will demonstrate how to use some of Julie's late spring blooms and foliage to create a beautiful seasonal table arrangement. She will discuss both the practicalities of how to condition and care for your flowers to maximise their vase life and her philosophy of letting the flowers and nature guide you when arranging. Then it will be your turn to have a go - you will forage for foliage and perhaps add a few bits from the garden to the carefully selected flowers that Brigitte will have waiting for you to arrange and to then take home and enjoy.

9.30am - 3.30pm
£250

We are planning further Gather & Grow courses in June, September and December. We have limited this first course to 8 places and a number of places have already been taken, so if you are interested please pop over to Brigitte's website quickly.

I am both excited and very nervous about this new challenge and can see many hours of gardening work ahead whist I get the garden ready for its first event!
