A Lesson in Turkish Fashion: The Arzu Kaprol Tuxedo Top

By Scorpiondisco @scorpiondisco

I snapped up this Arzu Kaprol peplum tuxedo top in Istanbul last summer, and have found many, many excuses to wear it all year long. I donned it for a chilly New Years Eve party this winter, a big fashion party in Boston in the fall, and an outdoor music fest in the spring, plus lots of fetes in between. Between the architecture of the collar-bone enhancing silhouette, the plasticized pattern on the front, and the playful peplum, this was definitely an investment that was as smart as it is stylish.

Come in for the leather accents, architectural coats and jackets, and leg-baring miniskirts that practically beg to be taken for a spin in the limo, and stay for the mile-high shoes and elbow length leather gloves. Kaprol’s polished, structural pieces recently caught the attention of Linda Fargo and the rest of the Bergdorf Goodman buying team in New York, where a selection of her seasonal collections is now available. Although her heart will always be in couture, Kaprol told Fashion One that she has found a way to incorporate her intricate couture details into RTW. The designer has also been showing both couture and Prêt a Porter at Paris Fashion Week for a number of seasons.
Arzu Kaprol’s Beyoğlu outpost feels like a slightly sexy supper club - Grand Bazaar-meets-Tribeca style manifests itself in the store’s design, with Ottoman-inspired mosaic floor tiles, sleek angular shelving fixtures, exposed brick and mirrored walls that play up the city’s East-Meets-West perspective.
