A July Instagram Fairy Story

By Winyeemichelle

New month, new round-up of the previous 31 days in Instagram fairytale form. Once upon a time, it was the season to swelter in Hong Kong. Michelle wasn’t sure what to do.
She missed having her family around to bother and entertain her. Sister dates culminating in eating mochi ice cream, lounging in bed in matching pyjamas, while watching Jessica&Krystal? Yes please.
It was Sherry’s birthday at work and the theme was resort. Pineapple print co-ords were needed.
3/3rds' salad boxes were the meal of choice. Not too hot, not too cold, just right.
She remembered that you should never underestimate the power of clear blue water. But, suddenly, the skies changed and a tropical storm loomed. It’d never been so pretty up in the atmosphere.
Sometimes all she needed were insane dessert dates with her little sister.
Beach days are the only way to spend the weekends. Hot sand and hot water accompanied by selca time, coconut water and Taylor Swift playlists.
Michelle was truly living the fairy story: just look at that pink Stella McCartney pool table in the office. The perfect way to sharpen up her non-existent pool skills for weekends when the boys forced her to play too.
One day, she got dolled up in her favorite white top, took a deep breath for courage and went out on a second date with a guy she kinda really liked. She had the perfect late afternoon and he bought her two too-yummy cakes in an odd mistaken coincidence ^_~
Like every Instagram princess, she couldn’t not opt for the kawaii at all times. To combat the humidity, Michelle picked up a portable fan with bear ears. Her new best friend.
As if the month couldn’t get any better, she stumbled upon an adorable Little Twin Stars display in Causeway Bay! And then a Where's Wally? display in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Suddenly, there was a setback with Prince Charming. Michelle went for a solo spa day and treated herself to a little full body massage and bought her Chloe Lauren shoes of dreams.
Michelle adored brunch, the second best meal of the weekend behind dessert.
She dolled up in her new favorite top - a gingham number from Zara - and pranced around Sheung Wan. It was surprisingly fun in the city humidity!
Soon enough, she managed to plan a magical escape for Christmas break, far far away. Ten glorious days in the home kingdom of England awaited.
She simply loved to lap up cosy weekends at home writing short stories and scrapbooking her weeks. Introversion is the perfect excuse to excuse yourself from the heat.
Of course a month wouldn't be complete without kawaii treats and Minions cutlery freebies from McDonald’s.
Michelle even escaped and became a Sanrio character for a day.
On a cosy, post-storm Sunday, she ventured out for another brunch with an ex-colleague. That salad game, though…!
Soon she remembered that all storms pass and that there’s nobody except for yourself to be responsible for your happiness; boys will come and go but your best friends will always have your back - even from the other side of the world. Just like magic, a full rainbow appeared outside Michelle’s 29th floor office window.

Continuing the theme of persevering for mini daily dreams, it was all about Jammie Dodgers (the taste of her childhood!), shopping for adorable Sailormoon trinkets and buying more stripes because retail therapy > everything.
Goodbye July, pixie Michelle is busy by the beach awaiting the remnants of a hot ol’ summer.
