Kitten Rescued From Underneath Car In Garland

CBS DFW: (Garland, TX) – Most people have heard stories about firemen coming to rescue kittens that have gotten stuck in trees. But police officers can rescue cats, too. It happened last week in Garland, when Officer R.P. Clark helped remove a vehicle’s gas tank to save a little kitten who was stuck under the car.

Clark observed a pickup truck make a sudden stop in the roadway, near the intersection of Plano Road and Walnut Street. When he went to find out why the vehicle stopped, he discovered a small yellow kitten trying to cross the road. That cat jumped onto the back tire of a stopped SUV and found itself stuck underneath the car. Clark told the SUV driver to stop, so as not to harm the little fur ball.

The officer and the driver figured out that the kitten had climbed onto the vehicle’s gas tank, and was out of arm’s reach. So, they started to take the gas tank apart, dropping it down closer so that someone could grab the kitten. The animal-saving act soon attracted a crowd of onlookers.

An employee from a nearby bank was able to reach underneath the SUV and pull the kitten to safety while Clark held the lowered gas tank. The bank worker, named Bianca, went on to adopt the kitten. But Clark had just one request — that the cat be named Kia, after the SUV where it was found.

Bianca and Kia now seem very happy together.

Safe and sound!
