A Great Gatsby Inspired Evening London.

Recently the boy took me on a surprise date and he had taken inspiration from the Great Gatsby, and no I don’t mean he dressed up like Leanardo, although I wouldn’t complain if he did! He chose two little places in Soho that fitted in the the glitz and glamour of the film.

First up we headed along Poland street and stopped at an unmarked door (I love anything that is a bit of a secret, so I was instantly excited) we pressed a buzzer marked M&H and the door opened to revive the check in desk of “Milk and Honey.”

Milk and Honey is a members bar that allows non members to attend before 11pm (providing you can get a table). The bar opened in April 2002 and is renowned for the quality of it’s drinks and service.

We were led through one room and downstairs to a private booth, ice and sliced fruit filled the bar and rows of bottles of alcohol sparkled at us from behind it. We were handed a menu and each chose a cocktail which was deliver on a tray with a lit candle (it’s very talk in M&H) and then blown out once your drinks are placed on the table.

I couldn’t take photos as it is against policy but I do love their house rules so I’m sharing those instead-

After finishing up in Milk and Honey we headed further in to Soho to our next stop Bob Bob Ricard. Bob bob Ricard is like and art deco paradise giving its own twist on the Orient Express. There is brass fittings everywhere you look and every table is a booth so you can have your own little semi private dining experience.

Each table has a champagne call-button (yes, this made me super happy) and sockets for electric toasters or your phone if you need a quick charge.

The food is a mix between Russian and English, the style fits perfectly with the style of the restaurant and the presentation is exquisite.

I had baked cheese soufflé , Spiced bean hash, Crepe suzette and the boy had Caviar and 3 Bird Burger with Lobster mash. Then we policed off a bottle of Bollinger, desert wine and I was forced (ok not forced) in to vodka shots between courses. So we went away very happy bunnies!

Great Gatsby would be at home in either of these places and if you fancy a night of indulgence I would highly recommend heading over to Soho and giving them a try.
