A beautifully personal family Humanist blessing in Lancashire
You may recognise those huge smiles in the family photography above.
Kate and Will were a Bride and Groom of mine many years ago and I was their wedding videographer (they got married in the ever so stylish Saddleworth Hotel) and I also got to be family videographer at the christening of their eldest, Fred!
At weddings I'm drawn to family moments and connections so I'm thankful Kate and Will were the first to book me to film a christening and allow me to document another wonderful milestone in their growing family's life.
This time they also took me up on my latest family christening package that included both a christening video AND photographs.
This allowed them to enjoy Florence's special day without worrying about capturing those important moments themselves.
See below for their very own christening video and scroll down to read more about their day and see some of the family photographs too...
A Family Christening Video - Family Videography in Lancashire
Florence's very own christening highlights video by Love Gets Sweeter Videography
I arrived at their new family home near Todmorden in Lancashire warned of renovation mess and a kitchen from the 70's that I had to film and photograph around. It wasn't nearly as bad as they'd described!
If anything I think they'll look back at this film in years to come and it'll trigger the fun memories they had making their new house a home!
So if that's a worry of yours too you can rest assured I'll do my best to be discreet but looking back on your photos and video all you'll see is fond memories that bring a smile to your face, not the dodgy decor...
Everyone was soon in their smartest christening attire, Florence had even managed to nod off for a nap in her beautiful christening gown (despite her big brother Fred's attempts to sabotage-the nap not the dress!) and ready to head to The Unitarian Church in Todmorden for Florence's very own Humanist Blessing.
Family Videography - A Laid Back Humanist Christening
Having a Humanist naming or blessing is a great way to have a more personal and honest service to celebrate your new baby (you can find out more about them here)
It definitely felt like there was less pressure on everyone and felt more personal to the family.
A bit keen we all arrived VERY early but it gave Florence chance to enjoy a longer nap and then for the family to welcome every one in to the church in Todmorden when they arrived.
The humanist celebrant got everyone to take their seat before sharing some wonderful words about the family and giving a blessing to Florence.
Fred even got to enjoy the spotlight when he practised his violin and got everyone to sing 'The Grand Old Duke Of York' (which he sings to Florence at home all the time and tells me is her favourite song!).
A Cosy Christening Reception in Todmordon - Lancashire Christening Photography and Videography
It was only a short walk down the steep hill to get to Site Pizzeria where the christening celebrations (or christening reception) was to be held.
They'd dressed it up so beautifully. With a gorgeous pink, white and grey tiered christening cake surrounded by cupcakes, personal photography bunting of Florence's life so far with all her loved ones and even photos floating on balloons.
As soon as baby Florence was awake family and friends were keen to have a cuddle!
She enjoyed lots of fuss, even getting involved with the bespoke Instagram frame for selfies before enjoying a well deserved second nap!
This part is always great to document (for both photography and video) because you capture those natural moments you don'y get to enjoy if everyone's posing!
You get to be reminded how much fun everyone had and how all the planning was worth it...
