A Dramatic San Francisco Living Room

By Dwell @dwell
"A fallacy about modernism is that every space should be light,” says San Francisco architect Abigail Turin about her Pacific Heights home. “I don’t need every space in my house to be bright and cheerful.” In the living room, Turin went for the somber paint 4320J from Les Couleurs Suisse to get the dark effect. She adds a bit of light to the space thanks to a pair of Charles sofas by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia, an Extra Big floor lamp by Marcel Wanders for Cappellini, and an Arco lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos. A Fogg rug by Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg for Kasthall grounds things in a neutral shade, but Turin goes back to black with the Smoke arm chair by Maarten Bass for Moooi.
