A Day Trip to Keswick, The Lake District

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
I've visited The Lake District multiple times and we recently had a family day out across in Keswick. Not being one to miss any opportunity to take photos, I had to take my camera along. If you've never been before and you like scenery; enjoy what is to follow. The Lake District is known an area of outstanding natural beauty and I wholeheartedly agree with that, any number of tourists visiting would probably agree too. There's nothing quite like taking in the scenery and appreciating the fresh air. Whilst 4G signal never graced my phone the whole time I was there, and 3G was intermittent, it was really lovely to appreciate the views instead.

Derwentwater has particular sentimental value to me, which might sound a bit strange, since it's a body of water, but let me explain. When we produced our dissertation film at university, we filmed the majority around Derwentwater (and some shots actually on the lake in those rowing boats) and so, I became very used to the surroundings and trying to maneouver around overgrown tree roots with sound recording equipment. If you have a look back through sunday summary posts from March to May/June 2014 there's various snippets I've shared from filming and post-production for our film.
On the way back home we stopped at Castlerigg. You could argue it's The Lake District's Stonehenge. With views across to Helvellyn and Blencathra behind, it's a great location to take in the scenery. The only tricky part is trying to get a photo without anyone being in it.

Keswick is a lovely town to visit within The Lake District and if you're planning a visit, I'd definitely recommend a trip over. The only disappointing thing, is their lack of cafés, restaurants and food outlets that cater for those with any food intolerance. Just worth noting if you're perhaps gluten free for example.

Anyway, something a little different today but it's nice to share some photos from my recent trip out. If you'd like to see more posts like this (Lake District related or just general outings) do let me know.

Have you been to The Lake District before? Did you visit Keswick?
