A creative Easter centrepiece

No matter your plans this Easter, it's always important to ensure that your home is as festive and colourful as can be. You too can spruce up your home this spring with this creative Easter centrepiece design. Here are the steps you need to follow.

What you need:

  • Fresh, silk or paper flowers for your Easter centrepiece
  • Plastic or hollowed eggs
  • Egg carton (one that holds 10 eggs)
  • Floral foam

Method:

  • The first thing you need to do is take a look at your egg carton. If it is not too colourful, you can paint it any colour or colours you like.
  • Next, if you have plastic eggs, make sure that they are colourful. Alternatively, you can use regular eggs. Just make sure that you hollow them out, allow them to stand and dry out and decorate them.
  • Once your egg carton and eggs are ready, it's time to prepare your floral foam. If you are planning on using fresh flowers in your Easter centrepiece, you should place the foam inside half an eggshell or a plastic holder similar in size. Soak your floral foam and place approximately 4 to 6 in the egg carton.
  • Arrange your flowers and foliage in the floral foam as desired. Remember to stick to pastel shades and mix up your arrangement by using various small flowers like mini carnations, small daisy-like flowers, baby's breath and so on.
  • Now arrange your plastic or painted eggs around the flower bouquet in the middle. Fill up your egg carton.
  • If you like, you can add a flower pick too. Accessories are great but make sure that you do not overdo it since this is a relatively small arrangement and the accessories can easily overwhelm the display.

Remember, if you are planning on using silk or paper flowers, you do not need to place the floral foam in plastic or egg shells. You can use them without soaking them in water. If you use plastic eggs that can open, how about hiding a few sweets inside to surprise the kids? There are many ways in which you can get even more creative with this Easter centrepiece. Simply consider your supplies and preferences. You can make more than one of these arrangements and even have your children give you a hand.
