A Classic English Wedding in Leicestershire

By Claire

This is a wedding to read slowly and really enjoy the images from. Please do read Jennifer’s wedding story as well — you’ll find it half way through the blog post. Let me know which is your favorite image — I’ve found it difficult to choose which I love best today! (Too many to decide!)

Enjoy! Claire xxx

How would you describe your wedding style?

Traditional, Classic, Elegant

A little about the wedding ceremony

We had a traditional ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in the beautiful village of Wymeswold in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside.

Which readings did you choose?

Colossians 3, verses 12–17, which offers some good advice on how to maintain a healthy relationship, and Marriage Joins Two People in the Circle of its Love by Edmund O’Neill which is a candid poem describing the meaning of marriage.

Tell us a little about your wedding venue styling and details

The venue was so grand and ornamental that we barely needed to add any decoration apart from the table centrepieces which consisted of candelabras with cream and white flowers, and tea lights and lanterns on the tables in the bar. We also decorated the grand entrance with bay trees, olive trees and lanterns. The theme colours were ivory and navy blue, so we had ivory chair covers with navy sashes.

Invitations and reception stationery:

Will’s brother Ed, who is a graphic designer by trade, created a navy on white ‘William and Jennifer’ logo which formed the basis of all our stationery. He designed our save the dates, invites, order of service and place names.

Wedding music and entertainment:

We had a choir and church bells in the church, a pianist for the drinks reception and a disco

What did you wear?

The bride wore a bateau neckline, fitted lace dress by Justin Alexander with a cathedral length veil, earrings and necklace from Monsoon and plain pointed ivory shoes from Bhs.
The groomsmen wore modern slim-fit charcoal suits from Next with navy ties, although Will wore a waistcoat to differentiate him from the rest of the party.

The bridesmaids wore navy full-length dresses from Coast with a V-neckline and flower embellishment on the waistband.

Memorable wedding day moments:

Exchanging the wedding vows, the father of the bride’s speech, the first dance, one of the guests being mistaken for Harry Styles!

Wedding day advice:

Relax, take a moment every now and then to appreciate the best day of your life, try to spend a few minutes alone with your new spouse, don’t worry as much as I did about making sure you speak to all your guests. They will come to you!
