Florence was one of the participants of the Rotary Youth Week (an event that had students from various schools serve as public officials for a week), where she served as First Councilor. One of the Rotarians, my friend John De Cleene, runs The New J 103.3 FM, the city’s all Christian radio station.
When Mr. De Cleene took note of her great performance in the Rotary Youth Week, especially the final day, and also learned that she’s also a leader in her church’s youth ministry, a radio interview was bound to happen.
And so here it is, an interview with (uh oh, proud-teacher-moment) an amazing young woman that I am very proud to call my student.
The vid below is divided into three parts (to make room for songs in between) and I hope you stick around for the entirety of this great interview.
0:00 – 4:23 covers Florence’s experiences in Rotary Youth Week
4:23 – 9:40 covers Florence’s Christian walk, and what goes on in InsideOut City, the venue of one of the best youth ministries in the city (and the youth min of choice of many of my students).
9:40 – 13:58 we get to know Florence a bit better, find out her spiritual disciplines find out more about what goes on in her youth church.
Enjoy.
May I also take the opportunity to invite my Cagayan de Oro readers to tune in to The New J 103.3 FM. It's a great radio station featuring fantastic Christian programming. My favorites include The Wally Show (the best thing in Christian radio, in my opinion), Unshackled, and the Focus on the Family daily broadcasts (you may not need my site anymore once you search through the awesome parenting resources there).
I also think InsideOut is one heck of a youth ministry, and if you're a teen and looking for an awesome way to worship, I'd suggest you consider it. Many of the most devout, most mission oriented students of mine credit IO as their springboard to their very robust Christian life. Kudos to them for producing vibrant believers like Florence with almost assembly line-like efficiency. (Ok, I may be exaggerating there, but they are truly one of the better youth ministries that I've seen; and I also include IO in my post here)
