A Case of the Heart and Soul

By Namalsiddiqui @namalsiddiqui

Winter days have made mornings in this desert, a beautiful one to wake up to. I'm not sure if it is the weather or just the state of my mind, that makes everything seem so worthwhile. I love the feeling of a cold crisp morning, specially
when the night that passed by was a rainy one. You can smell the rain in the air, you can feel it in the damp soil under your feet. If there is anything that gives you happiness like the morning I talk about gives me, then I'm sure you feel like everything in the universe is working with you, for you. It's not much really, I am simple like that. (but beware, such people can be extremely complex in other cases! sigh!)
Such days inspire me, of course. From running carefree on cold desert sand in such beautiful weather, to driving on Dubai roads like I'm participating in an F1 race (haha!) or because I'm being chased by the mafia on Sheikh Zayed road (again haha! MI-5?! ;)) to matters like women empowerment, being successful and doing something lasting and good - completely random thoughts and ideas buzz my mind! But then you do come down to reasoning, and think of what you really should be doing?! And it could be any phase of your life. Honestly, it doesn't have to be beautiful weather that triggers off a million thoughts in ones head, it could be a situation, an event, anything! And what do we do?
We take advice, opinion, suggestions from many, and find a million voices speaking out in our mind. At the end, we do what we want to do. We listen to that one voice that cancels out all the others. It is the voice that comes from within. The voice that connects us to our soul. The voice of the heart. And when it becomes a case of the heart and soul, they inevitably create love and passion within us. I think that's why they say, 'Do what you love'. Listen to the voice inside (with conviction), believe in yourself, in the things you think or dream of, things that you want to do, and go ahead, take that step, make that move. You're only happy when you are doing what you love to do.
It may not be easy to figure it out. It takes time with some people, and with some it needs age, maturity, wisdom or a life-changing event. But we all eventually do figure it out, what it is that we love to do and have to do.
We reason through our mind, about different possibilities. And our love and passion is given birth to, by the madness, the energy, created by the continuous rhythmic blood flow that our heart contains in it, that connects us to our own very being, our body.
You have to feel connected with yourself. Your mind, heart, body and soul must be in harmony. You have to ask yourself, what will really make you happy? In our minds and hearts, we have all created customized sets of values, influenced by culture, religion, and our environment. To be able to achieve the things we really want to do, we must believe in ourselves. We must be confident of the person we are, and be clear in our thoughts. From the mess in my mind, I decide to pick up the most important ones, the one that really mean something to me, not for now but for the rest of my life.
I always believe that to help others you must first help yourself, to forgive others you must first forgive yourself and to love others you must first love yourself. Yes, no one is perfect and that's okay. But find your way to yourself, so the road to others hearts and worlds becomes an easier one to tread on.
I speak the voice of my heart, through the pen that writes, through the words I type, through the work I do, through the challenges it gives me, and through the wonderful moments a family spends together - and all of these can have good days or bad days, it's just a part of life.
What gives you contentment and peace? What does the voice of your heart say? What makes you happy?

“Unless your heart, your soul, and your whole being are behind every decision you make, the words from your mouth will be empty, and each action will be meaningless. Truth and confidence are the roots of happiness.” - Pietro Aretino “Every single life only becomes great when the individual sets upon a goal or goals which they really believe in, which they can really commit themselves to, which they can put their whole heart and soul into.” - Brian Tracy
