Unless you’ve been living under a giant rock the past couple of weeks or so, then you’ve undoubtedly been hearing a lot about the city of Baltimore, and what you heard may not be the best things. Riots and looting and fires, oh my!

Luckily, it appears that Charm City has calmed down from all of the turmoil surrounding the tragic death of Freddie Gray, and looks like this beautiful city is on the mend, just in time for my big announcement. Yep. I have a big announcement.
Hey, Baltimore! Watch out, because here we come. That’s right! The 4 of us, and our two furry babies, are officially moving to B’more this June, and we couldn’t be more fired up about it. Especially now that we have a house! I am dying over it too. Seriously.
I mean, if you’ve ever had to relocate for work or any other reason, then you know the stress, excitement and anticipation, and of course that crazy rollercoaster of emotions you go through during house hunting, and not to mention what happens to your insides when you find what you deem to be your “Dream House.”
That something happened to my insides, and I got all goose-bumpy when we saw the listing for a particular home, in a particular neighborhood, right in Baltimore City. When we discovered that we could afford it, that it was still for sale, and then that they accepted our offer and signed a contract??!!??!?!?!! **DIES**
I cried a lot when Michael called to tell me “we got the house.” WE GOT THE HOUSE?!??! WE. GOT. THE. HOUSE. We got it. We got the dream house. The house that made me feel so stressed, excited and full of anticipation is all ours.
I have been apprehensive to share our news with everyone until we had a place to call home. I don’t know. It just makes everything seem a bit more real. So here I am, excited, nervous, over the moon, scared, and actually pretty ready to pack up our life here in the small-town Austin, Texas suburb and head north to the city of Baltimore.
So, what’s in store for the future of Slow Down and Savor? A LOT. Oh my, the possibilities are freaking me out with excitement. Are you kidding me? First of all, you may have noticed my color scheme has changed here on SD&S. Yep, that’s the official hex color for The Baltimore Ravens, which seems to be the color of the city as well. Preeeeety.
As for content, we’ll be right there, in the heart of the city with so many amazing restaurants, delis, markets and more. Yes, I’ll still do baby posts, unboxings and product reviews, but with so many eateries and food-related awesomeness within a stone’s throw from our stoop, you can bet that SD&S will be back to its original roots chock full of restaurant reviews, and with that KITCHEN?!? You bet I’ll be back to recipe testing and food photography. I’m fired up. I also am hoping to incorporate some of the best and most fun family-friendly AND date-night worthy spots in our neighborhood, and in the city as a whole.
So until we bid adieu to our little neck of the woods, stick around here for some more fun unboxings, product reviews, as well as a farewell to the Austin area and its food.
