A $1 Million Diamond and Pearl Swimsuit? Why Not!

Remember when you read about a celebrity gifting her spouse a five million dollar watch and thought it was excessive? Australia’s designer Ann Middleton has knocked excessive out of the park with her new swimsuit design. Studded with diamonds and South Sea pearls, the cost of such an extravagant splash in the pool is just under one million dollars. No article has revealed if one size fits all.

The million dollar swim wear was designed by Ann Middleton for the Sunseeker label and launched at the Queensland, Australia Gold Coast Swim Fashion Festival held in November, 2013 at the Surfers’ Paradise Mariott, with great fanfare and unprecedented attendance. Participation of the famous jewelery designer Ann Middleton was cause for keen excitement by everyone involved in the festival. Even the decision of selecting the model to wear the million dollar swimsuit was cause for much publicity. Finally, Australian model Samantha Harris was chosen to model the 100 pearl decorated, 220 diamond studded, 133 carats Australian swimsuit offering.

Designer Ann Middleton is no stranger to the limelight, having designed for former President Bill Clinton and entertainer Elton John, to name drop just a couple. She has designed for over 39 years, and stated when she was first approached by the festival and Sunseeker label with the beach concept, she envisioned her design immediately. In addition to the more than 220 diamonds, she incorporated over 100 Australian pearls into the swimsuit, stating she used as many Australian gems and pearls as possible to fully display the nation’s lifestyle and resources. She advised they put over 100 hours into the swimsuit’s creation. Her aim was to put the beauty of everything Australia contains on a podium before the world.

Leanne St. George produced the festival and expressed high appreciation to her group for the coup of obtaining Ann Middleton, the model Samantha Shaw and designer label Sunseeker for the event. The group all agreed it was definitely the perfect time to put Australia’s lifestyle and fashion out there for the admiration of the world.
