Well, the first part of January is already over. Are you still hitting the gym hard? Are you still eating sandwiches wrapped in lettuce instead of delicious bread? We hope so! On the off chance you’ve already forsaken your cherished New Years resolutions and have succumbed to a life of binge-watching Netflix and eating normal people food (bread is just too delicious), then we have a little playlist for you that will emotionally pump you up so you can get off the couch and get back on the treadmill.
1. Emanuel and the Fear – Jimme’s Song
We all know the hardest part about going to the gym is actually going to the gym. Lucky for you, “Jimme’s Song” by Brooklyn-based Emanuel and the Fear is the perfect pace for you to put on your brand new (and potentially unused) gym clothes and get sweating.
2. Empire of the Sun – Alive
Ok, so you’ve made it to the gym — you’re already there! Hit the treadmill, pick up some weights, maybe even do some weird CrossFit stuff? As long as you’re sweating, then you’re good. And as long as “Alive” is bumping in your headphones, then you’re probably totally feeling it.
3. Wild Cub – Thunder Clatter
You’ve been at it for a solid ten minutes now! Keep going and then take a water break — hydration is key, and unfortunately music can only quench your musical thirst.
4. A Tribe Called Red – Electric Pow Wow Drum
All fueled up on that glorious H2O? Perfect, get back at it. You’re killing it, and so is A Tribe Called Red.
5. Son Lux – Lost it to Trying
You’ve been at this for quite some time. You might be sweating a lot, but that’s ok. Ideally you’re supposed to be active for 60 minutes a day, but you don’t want to stress your body out. Start slow, finish strong.
6. Stepdad – My Leather, My Fur, My Nails
This song might cause you to start dancing at the gym, but last time we checked jazzercising is totally a thing.
7. Knox Hamilton – Work it Out
“I know we can work it out” might be the best lyrics to get you through the fact that you might be dying right now. Let the sweet vocals of Knox Hamilton ease you into the end of your workout.
8. The Griswolds – Beware the Dog
It’s finally over. You avoided that weird guy in the gym, you got your sweat on and you probably feel like crap — but hey, you got over the hump of bailing on your resolution in the first month. Keep at it! We’re proud of you, your cat is proud of you, and more importantly, you should be proud of you.
