Many people harbor dreams of leaving the UK at least once a year and jet-setting halfway across the world on holiday. However, the UK itself is a great holiday destination in its own right for a variety of reasons.
Here are 8 of them…
- It’s generally cheaper – It’s true that you can get some excellent cheap holidays abroad, especially at last minute, but you can get holidays in the UK on a shoestring budget. Of course it depends on the type of holiday you want, but you’re sure to find something within your price bracket. For example, go to somewhere like Center Parcs and you’ll pay a lot of money, but you can find some excellent short breaks at ukbreakaways.com if you want to spend some money.
- Less traveling is involved – Just hope in your car and go wherever you want! That’s the beauty of holiday in the UK. Trains are also incredibly efficient; a train from Manchester to London only takes a couple of hours and if you book in advance, you can get tickets for reasonably cheap. You can even fly if you’re going from one end of the country to the other, which is also cheaper than you might think.
- No problem with the language barrier – Unless you go to Liverpool or some parts of Scotland, you should have no problem with the language barrier in the UK, which is something that does bother some people when going to non-English speaking countries.
- You can take pets with you – A lot of people prefer to holiday in the UK purely because they can take their pets with them. Kennel costs can be expensive, so if you go somewhere in the UK that allows pets (Claridges might be out of the question), simply take them with you.
- There’s plenty to see and do – The UK really does have some amazing holiday locations. London is a wonderful city break, whilst places such as Chester, York and Bath are beautiful. If you want a beach holiday then look no further than Cornwall or even Scotland (Camusdarach looks like the Mediterranean). No matter what you’re looking for from your holiday, the UK has it.
- The weather isn’t actually that bad – Sure, if you want to go on holiday in the middle of winter, then you’ll be lucky to get a nice day, and even then it’ll be cold. However, if you go away in the summer then there’s a good chance you’ll get some half-decent weather. You could always keep an eye on the weather forecast and try and get something last minute if the weather’s going to be nice.
- It’s just less of a hassle – If you think about how much stuff you need to organize when you go on holiday abroad, you’ll realize how much easier holidaying in the UK actually is. You don’t need your passport, or to change money over, or to get travel insurance, or to get someone to pick you up from the airport, etc, etc.
- Tea – Because you can never get a good cup of tea abroad.
