7 Songs for the Future You

Posted on the 08 August 2014 by Thewildhoneypie @thewildhoneypie

Summer festival season is here, but something’s changing. Is the music too loud? Do you feel like you need a shower after a week of living in the wilderness? Are you getting tired of sleeping  in tents? Do you think that portable toilets are too much for you? Maybe you’re getting old. Whether you like it or not, we’re all aging. But what’s really happening to you? How did you go from being the kid in the front row to the old guy sitting in the back? The resident Wild Honey Pie Music Scientist (real career we just made up) is here to help you.

Spotify
1. Daughter - Youth

You remember those days when you were once young and reckless. Oh youth, gone so quickly and (as they say) so wasted on the young.

2. Radiohead - No Surprises

Now here in your old, old age you’d rather play with this mosh pit simulator rather than jump in yourself.

3. Holly Miranda - Forever Young

You are starting to wonder if there’s a way to go back, to reverse the outcomes of the passing of time. Spoiler — as Wild Honey Pie Science expert I can tell you there’s not.

4. The Kills - DNA

The real reason you’re aging is because changes were made to your DNA (science)! Your chromosomes are shortening every time your cells multiply.

5. The National - All the Wine

So you switch from drinking beer to red wine. You read somewhere that it has something in it that will make you live longer. Who knows, that might be true.

6. alt-J - Left Hand Free

Are you still able to battle? Are you still hot? No, no you are not…

7. Devendra Banhart - I Feel Just Like a Child

Of course, you can just throw on some awesome jams, like basically this whole playlist, and at least feel like you’re a child again. That’s completely up to you.
