Located in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Wyoming, these projects represent regionally appropriate use of solar power, a key to clean energy. Under the president’s “We Can’t Wait” initiative, a public-private partnership aimed at revitalizing American manufacturing.
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar was quoted as saying “‘These seven proposed solar and wind projects have great potential to grow our nation’s energy independence, drive job creation, and power economies across the west.’” Adding to the two dozen previously authorized projects, the administration has now approved permits for 31 utility-scale renewable energy installations.
