Instant Pot addicts, I think you’re going to like this post. I am constantly asked if you can cook the chicken marinades from the 7 Chicken Marinade Recipes You Can Freeze post in the Instant Pot, and sadly the answer is no…because they don’t have enough liquid.

I’ve been working on this post for months as the answer to this issue…and I’m so happy to share these 7 Instant Pot Chicken Breast Recipes with you today!

Since really getting to know my Instant Pot, boneless skinless chicken breasts have become one of my favorite things to cook in it.

Why do I love cooking chicken breasts in the Instant Pot?

  • they cook quickly (under 20 minutes including coming to pressure, cooking, and thickening the sauce)
  • they are so juicy
  • since they require a cup of liquid to cook, it’s the perfect excuse to make a sauce
  • they also make for easy freezer packs!

The recipes in today’s post will each be getting their own posts over the next few months so you can see just how delicious the final products are…the marinade photos seriously don’t do them justice.

How to prep these Instant Pot chicken breast recipes as freezer packs?

  1. Label some heavy duty freezer bags with instructions for each recipe (trust me, you’re not going to want to look them up on cook day!)
  2. Use these handy baggie holders to hold open your freezer bags while you portion out the ingredients.
  3. Squeeze out as much air as possible.
  4. Freeze for up to 3 months.

How to cook these Instant Pot chicken breast recipes?

There are three types of recipes in this post:

  1. cream sauce recipes: a) cook your chicken, b) remove from the IP and reduce the sauce using the sautee function for 7-10 min, c) stir in the parmesan, cream and lemon juice (where indicated)
  2. stir fry recipes: a) cook your chicken, b) remove from the IP c) add veggies to the IP and cook for 3-5 minutes until slightly tender, d) stir in some cornstarch (where indicated) to thicken the sauce
  3. chicken + non-cream sauce recipes: a) cook your chicken, b) remove chicken from the IP, c) add cornstarch and thicken sauce using the sautee function

Instant pot chicken breast freezer pack FAQ:

  1. Can I cook these Instant Pot chicken breast recipes from frozen? Maybe, but I haven’t tested this, and there may be issues with the ingredients burning. I recommend completely thawing the freezer packs before cooking.
  2. Can I add more chicken breasts? Yes! These recipes have only been tested with 2 large chicken breasts (roughly 1 lb), but adding should work fine. You may want to double the sauce as well. It will take longer for the Instant Pot to come to pressure but should cook with roughly the same cook time.
  3. How long do I cook them? I use 8 min high pressure and a quick pressure release for 7 oz chicken breasts. Any larger, you may want to add in an extra 1-2 minutes. Any smaller and you’ll want to reduce the cook time by 1-2 minutes.
  4. Can I use chicken thighs? Yes, boneless skinless chicken thighs would be great in these marinades. Adjust the cook time to ??
  5. Can I use these recipes without freezing them?  Yes, absolutely.  Pop them in the fridge for 2 hours all the way up to 24 hours.  I don’t recommend marinating longer than that without freezing.
  6. What if my chicken is already frozen?  Do not thaw your chicken if you are going to freeze again.  Add the sauce ingredients to already frozen chicken and freeze.
