Having a lawn that makes everyone else jealous is the dream of many homeowners. Of course, a lawn that strikes envy among others doesn't happen without effort. Here is what you can do to make your lawn the envy of the neighborhood.

Use Fertilizer

A large component of growing a healthy, beautiful lawn is to use fertilizer. The blades of grass on your lawn need to be properly fed to look good-just like how you need proper nutrition to look good and be healthy. The type of fertilizer that you should use depends on the individual needs of your soil. There are a number of different micro-nutrients that your soil might lack in different amounts. Have your soil tested for micro-nutrients such as phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium.

Plant Gardens

Planting a garden in or around your lawn is a great way to accent it. Make sure to choose plants that go well with the shape, color, size and appearance of your property. When it comes to having a garden, you are not limited to warmer seasons. Figure out which plants grow well during the winter, and make those into your winter garden.

Place A Path Down

Putting a path on your lawn is another great way to accentuate its finest points. A number of different materials can be used to build the pathway. For example, you can use gravel, various kinds of decorative rocks and rocks of various colors. You can even put special rocks along the sides of the path to accentuate the path.

Water Your Lawn

This seems like a more obvious suggestion, but some people need to be reminded. It is recommended that, throughout the year, lawns require a minimum of about 1 ½ inches of water per week. Lawns should be watered deeply 2 to 3 times a week-not daily.

Look For Problems

Be vigilant about looking for problems. Problems include brown spots, bare spots, bald spots, spots that appear yellow-orange and powdery (also known as rusts), thinning grass, holes and too much moss. The sooner you find problems with your grass, the sooner you will be able to fix them.

Maintain Your Lawn

Make sure to mow your lawn every so often so that it appears nice and neat. Do not let your lawn grow wild because it will look unkempt. To make matters worse, unkempt-looking grass will make everything else on your property, including your house, look worse.

In conclusion, if you want to make your lawn the envy of the neighborhood you must periodically cut it, water it, look for problems, use fertilizer, plant gardens and place a pathway. With some care, your lawn will make your neighbors jealous of you. It may even raise the value of your home.
