Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or as we call it drones, are more capable of than just shooting aerial photographs and delivering pizza. From helping journalists capture stories up-close and to saving human lives, drones are now being used in so many ways that we couldn’t even imagine.

Medical Assistance

Drones are already on duty helping firefighters and paramedics save lives. When in a situation where a human can’t reach a person in need, drones comes to the rescue by delivering important medical goods. Imagine sending help to a person trapped in a building in a matter of minutes, before even firefighters setup their ladders.

Underwater Surveillance

UAV’s are not just about taking flight, but going underwater as well. The US Navy recently introduced a new drone that looks and swims just like a shark. They plan on using it to spy on enemies without raising any suspicion.

Police Assistance

Police forces in the US and Canada currently use drones for aerial surveillance and also take down bad guys. This research team recently developed a drone with a stun gun, which could actually lead to replace cops in the future.

Research and Inspection

In addition to helping inspect tall towers, structures and buildings, drones are the best choice of scientists who’s doing research on remote locations such as hot flaming volcanoes and even tornadoes.

Target Practice

Sounds a bit too brutal to use such a useful device for target practice, but the US military has been using robotic drones for combat training since 1997. Which, obviously beats practicing against humans.

3DR Mapping

Thanks to drones, 3D mapping of small and local areas has been relief to researchers, which specially helps in assessing damages in disaster stuck areas, monitoring and many others.
