Get Regular Checkups
Your child should see his or her doctor or dentist at least once a year for a checkup. Not only will your child’s doctor be able to address any issues or concerns your child may be having, but the doctor will also be able to vaccinate your child against any potential diseases that may be prevalent, such as whooping cough.
You should also have your child see the dentist. Getting a regular dental checkup will keep your child’s mouth healthy and ensure his or her teeth and gums are healthy. The more often your child receives checkups from the dentist or doctor, the better they can warrant off other diseases.
Dress Appropriately
The fall weather can be misleading, as it can be cold one day and warm the next. But it’s very important for you as a parent to ensure your child is always dressed appropriately for the weather. Don’t send your child to school in shorts with no coat if it’s going to be cold out that day. Make sure your child is always dressed appropriately so that there is no risk of hypo/hyperthermia.
Teach your Child Good Hygiene
Teaching your child to have good hygiene can keep them healthy this fall. For example, teach your child to wash his or her hands before they eat or after they use the bathroom. This can eliminate bacteria that may be on their hands from getting into their bodies. You should also ensure that your child showers or bathes regularly too to keep bacteria at bay.
Keep Them a Solid Diet
Your child is growing, and they need a diet to help them grow and stay healthy. Make sure your child is getting the right amount of fruits, vegetables, and vitamins on a daily basis. If your child’s diet is lacking nutrients, it could have a negative impact on their health. Talk with your child’s pediatrician to determine the right type of diet for your child, such as calorie count or number of servings for fruits and vegetables. By feeding your child a nutritious diet, you can help ward off disease and illness.
Keep them Home when They’re Sick
Having a sick child at home is never easy, but if your child is showing any symptoms of an illness, be sure to keep them home and get them treated. By sending your child to school while they’re sick, you are putting other children at risk. Plus, if your child tries to go about their normal routine without properly fighting off the illness, it will take them longer to get back to optimal health.
