5 Trends for Fall.

By Samantha Curtis @hooahandhiccups

Hi friends and Happy Saturday! Today’s Saturday Takeover is brought to you by Jaclyn of Pretty Petals! I “met” Jaclyn in a Facebook group and love her style. Is she not the cutest?!

Today she’s sharing 5 trends for fall. I am totally loving this cool weather in Georgia and excited to see what she has to say. Take it away girl!

THE CROSSBODY BAG

This “it” bag this season is definitely the crossbody bag. Gone are the days of large, bulky structured bags that weigh more than a high school student’s backpack. This season it’s all about the smaller bag worn over the shoulder or across the body. Chloe and Celine are currently the top trending designer brands for this season’s crossbody bags. But don’t let their hefty price tags stop you from getting on board with this trend. There are plenty of great dupes available and less expensive alternatives at stores like Forever 21 and Windsor.

STATEMENT SUNNIES

Yes, even in Fall – statement sunglasses are here to stay. Bold frames from Celine and wire framed styles from Dior will still be seen through the cooler months ahead. Rain or shine, you can be sure to find the trendiest sunnies worn by top celebrities and bloggers. Vintage inspired shapes from Illesteva and Dita are also trending at the moment and designers and brands are releasing more rounder styles – an ode to the 60s/70s.

THE WIDE BRIMMED FEDORA

It’s no secret that hats are one of the top trends for fall and winter. Wide brimmed fedora’s are a top seller in retailers for this fall season and with so many hat brands available now such as Hat Attack, Brixton and Lack of Color there are countless styles and colors to choose from. And while you can never go wrong with black, retailers such as Madewell released a gorgeous deep hued navy and olive green that add an unexpected bold statement to any outfit for the ultimate “cool” factor.

SUEDE BOOTS

The suede boot is back and better than ever. Last year we saw suede in a more refined, structured style with a stiletto heel. This year, the 70s have taken over and boots are back with chunky block heels at a much lower height than we’ve seen in past seasons. Zara and Mango are great retailers to score affordable versions of this season’s trending boot in both black and brown shades. And it’s not just the knee high versions that are trending, but also the mid-calf styles with a similar style that you can pair with culottes as the temps start to cool down.

THE PUSSYBOW NECKTIE

Continuing with the 70s trend this season, the pussybow necktie will be seen everywhere in retailers this fall. Whether it be an add-on accessory (get the popular Nasty Gal version before it sells out again!) or a part of the actual top such as the Tory Burch blouse or a less expensive alternative at Target, this is the number one accessory/look of the season. Keep it modern by pairing with high waisted skinny jeans or a pleated leather skirt. You don’t want to go overboard with the 70s trend.
