5 Things to Know About Apple iPhone 5

Posted on the 22 January 2013 by Azharnadeem

So the iPhone 5 is out in the market and everyone seems curious about it. The year 2012 has been all about this technological standpoint it seems and the entire Apple Samsung patent fiasco has only fueled the exhilaration of what the new release is going to embody.

When everyone waited with baited breath, some of us are more informed than others. If you have just come to the realization that something special is happening in the world of Apple and smartphones, and no it isn’t some new discovered iPhone spyware, then here is a summation to help you come to par with all the hype and what has been going down.

1.   Apple has a lot riding on this. Android users already make up the majority of the smartphone user population and the Android OS, despite all the cell phone monitoring and safety issues associated with it, it is continually growing and taking over market space. The iPhone is Apple’s flagship device and in order to continue satisfying users/investors and pulling them over to iOS, Apple needs to really deliver a punch with this launch- – a punch strong enough to ward off the competition by other high-end smartphone manufacturers.

2.   iPhone 5 wears a new look. Another reason why everyone is so excited is that there is news that Apple will be changing its look. Among one of the changes to look for is the change in screen size.  The iPhone 5 will feature a 4 inch display rather than a 3.5 inch one. Now Androids come in just about every size but this is the first time we’ll be getting a bigger iPhone. iPhone has always been a slim phone, now how the change in size will alter the look is causing a lot of curiosity.  The physical casing is also expected to undergo a massive overhaul.

3.   Faster and Longer lasting. Apple will be releasing the iPhone 5 as a device which will feature 4G LTE data speeds. This seems to be an attempt to again compete with Android devices. And of course, there has always been an issue with battery life and reportedly this time the iPhone 5 will come with better battery life, despite being a device with LTE speeds. Now this itself seems to be a significant feat (if it truly turns out so) and may get a lot of users sick of bad battery life and slow internet speeds onboard the iPhone 5.

4.   Change in Pricing, More Compatibility. Whenever a new model arrives, older versions of the product tend to get bumped down. This is another reason that the iPhone 5 is causing excitement—the 4S will get cheaper if nothing else. The iPhone 5 is supposedly going to be compatible with China Mobile’s network. This means that Apple with the iPhone 5 will be given access to the world’s largest carrier with about 688,000 subscribers.

5.   Availability. The iPhone 5 was launched on 12th Sept last year and is now available across the globe. So if the above points have whet out your appetite for shiny new Apple devices, then start looking out for your nearest outlet and start counting the days like the rest of us!
