5 Things to Do at Home with the Kids This Summer

Wondering how to keep your kids entertained all Summer?  With school out and long days to fill, summer is the perfect time to get crafty with the kids, I've listed five awesome craft projects you can do with your children this summer. Stave off Summer boredom with these 5 fun activities

Make Bathtub Paint

Are your kids water babies? Let them get messy and creative with homemade bathtub paint!
Bath Paint Recipie
1/4 cup shampoo/ or hand soap/ or body wash (use whatever soapy thing you have lying around, great use for shampoo you didn’t like, or the end of the body wash)
1/4 cup corn starch
1-2 TBS water
3-4 drops food coloring
Combine cornstarch, shampoo, and food coloring. Add water 1/2 a tablespoon at a time until the mixture is thick enough to stick to the paint brush without much dripping, but thin enough to paint a line. If it gets too runny, add more cornstarch, too thick, add more water.

Make Play Dough

 Making your own play dough at home takes minutes – and you can add glitter or sweet-smelling essential oils for extra fun!
Play Dough Recipe
To make this most fabulous play dough, help your children measure and mix in a sauce pan-
2 C. flour
1/2 C. salt
2 C. water
2 Tbsp oil
1/4 C cream of tartar
a few drops of food coloring

Make a Cup Telephone

2 cups
1 piece of string (3m +)
1 needle
glitter paper (optional)
1 glue
1 pair of scissors
1 Cut two hearts from the glitter paper
2 Then paste the heart on the back of the cup
3 Pass the thread through the needle and pierce the back of the cup in the middle of the glitter heart, grab the needle inside the cup, remove the needle and tie a double knot with the wire
4 Do the same with the other end of the wire
5. to chat, the wire must be stretched

Make a Glitter Globe

• You'll need a Mason jar

• Figurines

•  waterproof super glue or epoxy

• glitter flakes or sequins

• water and glycerin. 

Using the Crazy Glue, attach your figurines to the lid of the mason jar. Let them dry completely. Next, fill your jar almost to the top with distilled water. Add a dash of liquid glycerin (this is used to make the glitter fall more slowly). The amount is glitter you add is sort of at your own discretion.Screw the cap on tightly and shake your jar to get the glitter moving.
And you're done!

Make Glitter Slime

  Glitter Slime Tutorial 

• 1 Elmer’s Glitter Glue
• 1 Cup Water
• 1 tsp. Borax
• 1 Tb Water

 Mix 1 tsp. Borax and 1 Cup water together. Have your little helper empty the Glitter Glue into a bowl. Add 1 TB. Water to the glue and mix it together.This will help the glue to become a little more flexible. Then pour the Borax mixture inside of the bowl. Let their little hands work the magic as they combine the glue and the mixture together. Right away you will see how the Glitter Slime will start to form. Don’t leave the slime in the water mixture too long since it will make the slime too hard. Finish mixing it in your hands. TIP: Don’t throw the extra Borax mixture yet. If the slime gets too slimy you can put it back inside and it will harden some more and you can store it in baby food jars.
