5 Songs To Start Off Your Week

Young for the Summer – DALES
The Summer Set’s lead singer, Brian Dales, is kicking off summer with a new track. It’s fun and classic American–the perfect soundtrack for the season.

One of Us – New Politics
This happy-go-lucky track comes to you from New Politics, the Danish dance rock band who’s earlier claim to fame was the song of the summer 2013’s “Harlem.” Armed with encouraging lyrics, like “Even though you’re lonely, you’re not alone, you’re one of us,” New Politics creates a safe place, and arms wide open to bring it in for a nice hug from a good friend. That’s what friends are for.

In Cold Blood – Alt-J
Anytime a song contrasts a groovy guitar with blaring french horns, I can’t help but think of what the world would be like if every middle schooler kept at their instrument. TALENT, you guys. TALENT. The middle of this song resembles a trippy video game soundtrack with synths, horns and even a lil reggae action. Alt-J has got your cure for boredom, and it’s in the form of this hot “In Cold Blood” track.

Slow Hands – Niall Horan
The former 1D members are really bringing their A-game. “Slow Hands” takes a different direction (no pun intended) than Horan’s debut, “This Town.” It’s a sexy, upbeat track and I’m looking forward to his forthcoming album.

Plot Twist – Sigrid
Sigrid’s debut EP, Don’t Kill My Vibe, came out last week and it does not disappoint. I’m loving every song but “Plot Twist” definitely stands out.
