Digital video content is getting a lot of attention lately and for good reason. Facebook reports that videos uploaded to its platform are clicked 4 billion times every day – and that is just one location. Consumers like the ease, interactivity and fun of digital video content and it is driving up views globally.
Video is not the only visual way to reach your customer base, though. Smart use of infographics can be a strong way to engage consumers and let them absorb the information in their own way. Infographics combine the benefits of both read-only and video media and can be posted in a variety of formats.
Take a look at why the infographic is still an effective marketing tool and should be part of your marketing strategy:
- Visuals are memorable. Ninety percent of information that reaches the brain is visual. Improve your chances of being remembered by including them. Clipart, charts, graphs and regular photographs are all acceptable visual elements to include in your infographs. You should also have some fun with text style, size and color.
- Infographics are easily digestible. For better or for worse, screen culture has reduced our attention spans. There is so much vying for our attention that the shorter, easily-skimmable material is what will grab a reader’s interest. Infographics break up the material in such a way that it is easy and fun to read.
- People are looking for infographics. In April 2015 alone, Google reports that there were 62 million searches for the term “infographic.” Those are just the people actually seeking them out. There are plenty more who stumble upon them on websites or social media too. People like infographs – so give them what they like.
- People prefer infographics over text. If a person is presented the same information, but one format is a text list and another one is an infograph, which do you think will garner the most attention? OneSpot reports that infographs are 30 times more likely to be read than the same information in text format. That seems like 30 times more reason to consider an infograph for your information presentation.
- Infographics are fun to share. When you have information laid out in a way that catches the eye, it encourages others to share it. Think about the brand visibility you can experience with an infographic that goes viral? Even one that is only shared a handful of times taps the power of word-of-mouth marketing to expand the influence of your business. It’s also a great way to positively boost the way your customers perceive you.
