5 Health Issues You May Face Working From Home

By Lyndsay S @lyndsinreallife

If you’re like a lot of people and have been working from home and staying inside more and more because of the pandemic, you might feel like you’re in a good working rhythm by now. But do you take care of your health enough? Here are a few things you should keep an eye out for.

Isolation

Isolation is probably the most common problem. Without the social buzz of the office, it can be easy to feel isolated and for the bad effects of isolation on mental health to start to set in. You could suggest that the office use tools like Slack to make working from home a little less lonely. If not, you should try to talk to your family and friends a little more often.

Not Moving Enough

It’s too easy to spend most of your day sitting in front of a computer screen before moving to the couch in front of the TV. But it’s important to find the exercises you can do at home. Sitting in a chair all day can lead to you having issues with your weight and more often your back. Look for Chiropractic care if you notice any symptoms that don’t ease with light exercise and care.

Not Leaving The House

You can stay healthy by going for a walk, jogging, or bike ride. Getting outside every day is really important, and not just because it gets you moving. People often don’t realize how good sunshine is for your health. It is one of the best ways to get the vitamin D you need, and it is also very important for your immune system, which has become more and more of a concern these days.

Badly Dealing With Stress

No one should be surprised if this time is a little more stressful than usual for them. But it’s important how you deal with stress. If you have tried to self-medicate with prescription drugs, alcohol, or something else, you might want to look into organisations that can help you. There are healthy ways to deal with stress, like meditation, exercise, or getting a hobby. These things can help you get rid of some of the stress and focus on the real problems.

Over-Extending Yourself

It might not seem like a big deal, but not having a good balance between work and home life can lead to or make worse all of the problems listed above. Working from home can be hell if you don’t have time for self-care and take on the stress that comes with taking on too much. Make sure you’re not working too hard and that you’re taking the breaks you need. People who work from home are generally more productive, but this could be because they have picked up bad ways to work.

Without the support network of a workplace, it’s more up to you to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Take the time to look at your current situation and see if any of the above points apply. If they do, think about the first thing you can do to fix the problem and go from there!
