5 Good Minutes with Latimer Events

We recently sat down with Taryn Johnson of Latimer Events. She is an up and coming planner working in the Chicago area and the surrounding suburbs... Pull up a chair as we were able to squeeze 5 good minutes out of Taryn!
How did you get started and how long have you been doing events professionally? 
I have been designing events for over 10 years now. My desire is to always try to make something beautiful. This is what has led me in this direction. I have a love for both event design as well as interior design and since they are very much related, I'm lucky I don't have to choose!

What motivates you the most at this stage of your career?  
I am motivated by the client! Nothing inspires me more than to hear a client talking about their special day and then to see their reaction once it comes to life!

What is the best advice you have been given so far as a planner? So far the best advice I have been given is to really find your niche so that you can stand out. I was also advised on how important branding is to the business and that is something I have been focusing on. It makes me really proud when someone recognizes my style of work.


Can you list some tips for brides that are searching for just the right planner to partner with on their big day?Absolutely, I think it is really important for brides to find a planner that realizes it IS a partnership. You want a planner that really listens to you and hears what you want that special day to be. You want a planner that is able to marry your vision with their expertise. However, you also want someone that is not afraid to tell you when you are not being realistic!
