We want our smart devices to do everything for us. But unfortunately, they can't. Having said that, there are a lot of ways that they can make our lives a little less annoying and a little easier. Here are some of the best apps out there for making things run a bit more smoothly.

Twilight:

We keep hearing about how blue screens are bad for our sleep habits. And whole groups of people have gone to extreme lengths to solve the problem by wearing special tinted glasses at night.

There's no need. Twilight is an app that will change the blue light output of your device automatically. Just tell it where you live and it will adjust blue light according to sunrise and sunset in your area, every day of the year.

You can adjust the level of brightness and the intensity of the blue light suppression. And you can finally have the luxury of using your phone in bed and it not keeping you up all night.

CallerSmart Reverse Lookup

Everybody hates getting calls on their mobile from unknown numbers. Not to worry, CallerSmart to the rescue. CallerSmart is a community driven app that has collected hundreds of thousands of numbers into its database. Just use the CallerSmart page and type in the number that called you. It will bring up the caller's name the location from which they called.

If you get an unwanted call, and there is no record on the database, you can help out the community by providing a description. Then both they and you will have a heads up for next time.

Pocket

Nothing is more annoying that not being able to access the content you want while you are offline. That's where comes in.

Pocket is an app that lets you enjoy blog posts and TED talks while you are on the subway or the road. You tell the app what content you come across online you want to save, and it'll save it so you can enjoy it later.

Check:

Check is an app that keeps track of all your bills and outgoings. It will tell you when they're due and what money you have left in your various bank accounts. What's more, it can inform you when you don't have enough money to pay the bills. But unfortunately, it can't tell you what to do about that!

Roadify:

One of the amazing revolutions that smartphones have brought is the ease at which we now move around new cities. Before it would have been a case of studying an Atlas and taping direction to the dashboard. Now things are very different.

wants to take that one step further. This app will give you real-time information on public transports times in over 50 US cities. This app has made the lives of people who have to switch between different buses and trains a lot more relaxing. Once you know how long you have to make a connection, you don't have to sprint between bus and train like you used to.
