5 Android Apps You Shouldn’t Miss This Week!

Welcome to the 248th edition of Android Apps Weekly. Here are the big headlines from the past week:

Arcane showdown

Price: Play for free

Arcane Showdown is an online PvP fighting game with some strategy elements. This allows players to build an army and then use it on the battlefield to take on opponents. There are also deck building elements, some things on the battlefield to turn the tide, and upgrades for troops. The controls are relatively easy to learn, and the menus aren't as bloated as most other games in the genre. We're not fans of the timed chests, but luckily the only ones with timers from PvP games.

Shortcut Manager

Price: $ 0.99

Shortcut Manager is an Android customization app. You can create different shortcuts for your home screen for things that normally don't have shortcuts. Some examples include volume controls, menu items for specific settings, and more. You can also customize the icon either with an icon pack or with images from your gallery. The list varies from phone to phone because many phones have activities that other phones don't. Either way, it's an inexpensive way to add extra functionality to your home screen, and it worked just fine in our tests.

Fantasy League

Price: Play for free

Fantasy League is a mobile RPG and pretty much falls into the Gacha category. It contains all the usual elements including a story mode, online PvP, lots of characters to summon, turn-based RPG battles and the like. This also includes guilds, guild wars and world bosses for a social game. There are a few issues with it including some bugs and some parts of the game that need a bit of polishing. It's not good enough yet, but if the developers fix it a little, it has potential.

DJAY for Android

Price: Free / $ 6.99

Technically, DJAY isn't new to Android. However, the update to version 3.0 is quite extensive and contains innumerable new functions. The new features include support for TIDAL and SoundCloud as well as an Automix AI function, better controls and integration with Pioneer DJ DDJ-200 devices. There is also a longer list of functions there. The new update seems fine, but people have found bugs here and there that should probably be fixed before it's released. It will stabilize over time, but there is a lot of cool new stuff here.

Genshin Impact

Price: Play for free

Genshin Impact is the latest game from MiHoYo, developers of the popular and successful Honkai Impact series. The game contains a completely open world where you can climb and swim over almost any obstacle in your path. The game also features gacha mechanics, and some have compared it to a Zelda: Breath of the Wild clone. You can even travel longer distances in a glider. This is a huge game and we only tested it for a couple of hours, but it actually played pretty well during our testing.
