Plan a London Night Out using these Android Apps
Nights out in London come in all shapes and sizes; from rooftop parties to intimate gigs there are a wide range of possibilities. However, being London, the Big Smoke, having a memorable night can take some organisation. From guest lists to tickets to deals to transport, there are things to plan but it doesn’t have to be a total pain if you stock your trusty smartphone, tablet or laptop with some of the best apps for being connected, having fun and getting home. Here are five of the best:
YPlan as ‘to– Self proclaimed night’s going out app’, YPlan inspires spontaneity by giving you a curated selection of the best events going on around London each and every night. All you do is log in, find something that tickles your fancy, pay securely through the app and then look forward to having a great night. Forbes called it “London’s hottest new startup” and they raised almost £8 million in June last year as it caught the eye of investors from Silicon Valley. It takes the planning out of a night out which gives you more time to get ready!

Fixr – This free app is similar to YPlan and helps you get your night started the smart way. Using their system you can find the nearest events with specific search categories. From here you can choose and buy tickets through the app before heading to the venue and enjoying what the team call ‘nightlife for the digital generation’. A good way of finding the right place to go but it has got critics for being an incredibly similar premise to the supremely popular YPlan.

London Bus Traveller – With the Tube closing notoriously early, knowing how to get around before, during and after your night out is important. This app quickly finds which bus you need and where to take it. The map will give you the best way of getting from one point to another and the latest feature gives you the next three arrivals at your departure point so you can plan ahead. Easy to use and intuitive to your needs, there are other options like Live London Bus Tracker but none are as good all round as this.

Hailo – While Bus Traveller is a great way to get around, sometimes you just want to take a cab. Hailo works with 23,000 black cab drivers so with just a couple of taps you can book a taxi and pay by card. So good it’s got a five star rating from more than 12,000 reviews on Google Play and now it’s available in North America as well as Europe and Japan too. You know what you’re going to pay immediately and can get home safe. Win-win.

Toptable – Looking to make a restaurant booking? If so, then this is the app for you. Quickly and instantly discover a restaurant and reserve your table via this app. There are 4,000 options across the UK but the majority are in London and you can filter by location, party size, date and time. Ratings and price are showed while they also have special offers. Make your request and use the reviews to see if it’s what you’re looking for, and earn points for dining out.
