Are you thinking about getting a tattoo? While this is an exciting decision, it is also one that you should not consider lightly. You need to make sure that you are thinking carefully about whether a tattoo is the right choice for you. The Design

Remember you can’t just wash a tattoo off, it is permanent. You have to be sure the design you choose is something that you won’t get bored of. Often people make hasty decisions about getting a tattoo and then live to regret it. This can lead to constant embarrassment or needing to have painful laser treatment to have it removed.

Placement On Your Body

You need to think about where on your body you want a tattoo. Tattoos are still viewed as quite a taboo subject so if you are going for a job interview and tattoos are visible, especially on your face, hands or neck then this may lose you the gig.

The Tattooist And The Tattoo Parlor

Next, you need to make sure that you are choosing the right tattoo parlor. If you are selecting a tattoo parlor, the easiest way to ensure that you get a quality solution is to check out the company online. Make sure that you are looking at different reviews that can easily be found on Google. Hygiene is of the utmost importance and employees should be using tattoo gloves when completing work on your tattoo. You might also want to consider whether your tattoo will be given in a room with other people or someone more private. If this is your first tattoo, it’s definitely going to be worth opting for the latter.

As for the tattoo artist, you need to make sure that you are thinking about the work that they have completed previously. Usually, a tattoo artist will have a portfolio of work that you can view and that will usually be available through their website.

Aftercare

If you can’t be bothered to take care of the tattoo after you have it done then you should question whether you want to spend potentially hundreds of pounds for nothing. Aftercare is important as failure to do so can lead to the tattoo feeling off or getting a serious infection in the tattoo site. Aftercare usually involves cleaning the tattoo gently, dabbing warm water on it for up to 30 minutes, rubbing cream in and placing cling film over the top. This can be time consuming and if the tattoo is somewhere you can’t reach then you will need to have someone on hand to help you with this.

We hope this helps you understand everything that you need to think about when you are getting your first tattoo. Remember, get a quote for your tattoo as well. It’s important to make sure that the cost is affordable before you book an appointment.
