My 4 Sore Throat Cures
(1) You may be expect to start with a recipe of a herbal potion, but I will disappoint you. Ice-cream. Yes, that’s right! Have you tried healing your sore throat with ice-cream? Non-sense?! No, actually, ice-cream works fine. Don’t over do it, however. 2 ice-creams with a time gap of 2 – 3 hours is quite enough.
And being on cold theme, another super natural sore throat cure is cold shower. My husband usually takes one when he starts feeling sick. On the next morning he is just fine. If you tolerate cold and feel positive about this approach, why don’t you give it a try? If still in doubt, read a very interesting article on the history and benefits of cold showers here.
(2) Now, let me start with the herbal potion. Actually, this is a gargle with chamomile and baking soda. Add 1 Tbsp of baking soda to 17 oz of brewed chamomile and gargle about 5 times a day.
(3) Another champion among the remedies for sore throats we use at home with success is gargling with water and salt. Add 1 tsp of salt to 2 cups with warm (not hot) water and gargle about 5 times a day.
(4) Steam inhalation is also very effective in curing sore throat and coughs. Boil 34 oz. water with 2 – 3 Tbsp chamomile and add 1 Tbsp baking soda. With a towel on the head lean over the pot and inhale deeply through your nose and mouth for 5-10 minutes. Don’t do this if you suffer from asthma or any heart disease. Repeat the inhalations several times a day.
A nice rest and drinking a lot of liquids to hydrate the throat add great value to any of the above home remedies. Avoid nuts. And stop smoking, if you do, at least for a couple of days.
