Birsa Munda, a revolutionary freedom fighter, a tribal leader, and a folk hero was born on 15th November 1875 in Ulihatu, a village in the Bengal presidency, now in Jharkhand.
He was a fearless leader from the Munda tribe who started the Ulgulan Rebellion in the year 1835 against the British that rose across the province of Bihar and Jharkhand in the 19th century.

("Let the kingdom of the queen be ended and our kingdom be established")
The British feared conspiracy and arrested Birsa Munda at the Jamkopai forest in Chakradharpur on 3 March 1900. According to the reports, a total of 460 tribals were arrested who were made accused of 15 different criminal cases, and Birsa Munda was one of them.
Later, he died in the jail in a mysterious circumstance at a very young age of 25 on 9th June 1900.

Ulihathu
Ulihatu, located in the Kunti district of Jharkhand, is the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. It is a small village surrounded by hills, and forests and is known for its scenic beauty. The village has been developed by the government and now constitutes famous heritage tourism in Jharkhand.
Dombari Buru
Dombari Buru is a picturesque hill, located in Sail Rakab village in the district of Kunti, adjacent to Ulihatu. It was at this hill, Bhagwan Birsa Munda declared the rebellious Ulgulan movement. The hill has a huge statue of the great tribal icon which is the main attraction of the place.
Ranchi Jail
The Ranchi jail located in the capital city, Ranchi has an important significance for the followers of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as he breathed his last in the jail on 9th June 1900. In the memory of the great leader, Bhagwan Birsa Munda Smriti Park has been built inside the premises of the jail.
Bhagwan Birsa Munda Samadhi Sthal
Bhagwan Birsa Munda Samadhi Sthal, located in Kokar, Ranchi is the place where Bhagwan Birsa Munda was cremated. Each year on the day of his death anniversary people visit the place to show tribute to the fearless hero.
