3 Winter Style Lessons That NYFW Street Style Taught Us

By Alexa Alfonso @lexlovescouture

Today is the last day of New York Fashion Week! As usual, the high street served as major fashion inspiration. With this polar vortex and yet another snowstorm upon us sometimes it is hard to maintain the chic. Thank goodness for the fashionistas willing to brave to cold and put their style on display! Here are three lessons that Fashion Week street style taught us about winter style!

  1. Fur is everything.

    Victoria Gamlen of Shopsy

Everywhere you turned at Lincoln Center over the past week there was fur! Fur vest, fur collars, fur jackets, and even the occasional fur hat. Being in the grips of a polar vortex probably did not hurt in giving fashionistas fur-spiration. As I previously mentioned fur is a must have trend this season.

    Dorothy Perkins- $99

  2. You gotta have a large satchel
Any girl who was not carrying a day clutch, or adorable cross body, opted for a large satchel to carry all of their Fashion Week needs. These bags are great for work, brunch, and a weekend shopping trip. Satchels are the perfect carry for all the things us girls need at our disposal at all times.

    Michael Kors- $358

  3. Denim does not have to be casual
    Celia Smith, ESSENCE.com Fashion Editor

There was just as much denim happening as there were dresses and skirts at Fashion Week. Pair a pair of boyfriend jeans withfur and/or a pair of chic pumps and you will have a look that is sure to turn heads!

    Nasty Gal- $68

Hope you all enjoyed New York Fashion Week street style as much as I did fashionistas!
