Happy Earth month friends! You know, I have to be honest and say I never really used to care about the planet until I had kids. I just didn't care if my I threw my trash out the window, on the ground.. anywhere but where it should go which is obviously the trash can. How horrible is that? Once I became a Mom I realized I really needed to change my ways for my family on helping the earth, not destroying it.
While it may seem complicated to go green, it really just starts with simple steps. For my family, it's about showing my toddler easy way she can help us like taking the trash out, recycling or making sure that we are purchasing safe products for our household. Don't believe me? How about some easy tips to going green? Here's 3 that we started this past week with!
1. Cleaning - Many bathroom products contain bleach and let’s be honest they smell extremely strong. One thing that I am not a fan of when using bleach-cleaning products besides the fact that they smell strong, is that sometimes they leave a harmful residue behind on the surface. So one thing that I have began to embrace for cleaning is a simple DIY cleaning solution that is made up from: White Vinegar, and water. This solution is amazing and works wonders on counter tops, showers and tubs. The best part is you will never have to worry about it being harmful with any toxins or awful chemicals because you don't have any in your spray bottle!
2. Toothpaste- While it may be overwhelming, going green is actually pretty easy, especially when you have great brands to choose from like Tom's of Maine®  My go to toothpaste is Tom’s of Maine Luminous White. This toothpaste ROCKS because the flavor is intense but not overwhelming and never once feeling chalky. Plus its helping to whiten the teeth naturally by removing surface stains vs other  regular fluoride toothpaste! I love that it's safe on my enamel, gluten free and actually made up of biodegradable ingredients. Who wouldn't want to use this advance whitening toothpaste for a gorgeous smile?
3. Lend A Hand - Whenever I'm out and about and see trash on the side of the road, I always stop and pick it up to throw away. It may seem gross ( I'll carry a few rubber gloves in the car just in case ) but knowing a simple thing like littering can be fixed within seconds is important. When my toddler see's me helping to keep the earth clean, I know she'll always wants to be apart in helping as well.
I love that I found Tom's of Main toothpaste at my local Walmart. You can earn .75 with the purchase of Tom's of Maine Luminous White Toothpaste if you want to make the switch over to this eco-friendly product! So what are you waiting for?! Let's start going green today!
