3 New Coffee Table Books To Covet

By Winyeemichelle
Without a shadow of a doubt, my ultimate guilty pleasure is buying coffee table books and recipe books when I don’t even own my home yet. Whilst previously I was a big fan of style books – I justified them all by reminding myself I was a fashion student – you’re more likely to find me reading in vain for the meaning of life, interior inspiration and for filling vegetarian recipes these days. Interior inspiration has got to be the most surprising addition to my bookshelves but I’m all for dreaming of my own little space these days. I was recently lucky enough to be gifted a few new coffee table books and thought I’d share them just ahead of gifting season, just in case your Secret Santa is an enthusiast of the written word AND home interiors or even if you’re just hunting down some mid-century modern inspo.

Mid-Century Modern at Home

This room by room guide to Mid-Century Modern interiors is an absolute dream for real interior enthusiasts. It covers everything from the history and roots of the design style to identifying and selecting key pieces, before offering a room by room guide to styling your home in a beautiful Mid-Century Modern style. I really love the entire page spreads devoted to furniture of note and it makes for a lovely book to dip in and out of. The photography is beautiful and the book itself is satisfying to hold with soft covers and semi-matte pages.

Available here via Amazon.

Scandinavian Style at Home

Also published by Thames & Hudson is Scandinavian Style at Home, a handbook to cultivating your own stamp on Scandi style for your home. Much like its MCM predecessor, this book covers classic items of furniture and signature accessories to ‘get the look’ as well as exploring the history of the design movement and offering up ‘typical’ Scandinavian color combinations to inspire your own interior style. Scandinavian Style at Home is penned by Allan Torp, a Danish, Copenhagen-based writer and blogger who consults on product development and also designs for leading Danish design companies.

Available here via Amazon.

Real Nordic Living

The real cornerstone in this blog post comes in the form of Real Nordic Living, a stunning ‘sourcebook’ that celebrates contemporary Scandinavian style from every angle. From design to interiors to cuisine and back, this one is a real mix of content and is one I find myself dipping into most evenings for a source of inspiration. There are entire spreads devoted to fashion designers, interior designers, recipes and more and it is an absolute staple for any Hygge devotee.

Available here via Amazon.

A huge thank you must go to the Thames & Hudson team for providing these books to me for review. All opinions and words remain honest and my own!
