3 Chutney Recipes for Babies & Kids

Let your baby ask for more! Yes, our 3 Chutney Recipes for babies & kids can make your fussy baby eat more. Let that be idly, dosa, vada, upma and the list goes on. The 3 super dooper recipes are chutney powder, Carrot chutney and Tomato chutney. These delicious chutneys are made with very few ingredients and it’s easy to make as well.

3 Chutney Recipes for Babies & Kids

Chutney Powder for Babies

Age: 8 months+

Ingredients:

  • Roasted Gram/ Pottukadalai – 1 cup
  • Pepper – 1/2 tsp.
  • Jeera – 1/2 tsp.
  • NOTE: Add salt for baby above 1 year

Method:

1. Dry roast all the ingredients.

2. Let them cool.

3. Grind them into a fine powder in a blender or mixer.

4. Chutney powder is ready.

5. Store in an airtight container for 3 Months.

6. Mix with Little Ghee and serve.

Carrot Chutney for Kids

Age: 8 Months+

Ingredients:

  • Chopped Carrot – 1 cup
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp.
  • Channa dal – 1tbsp.
  • Pepper – 1/4 tsp.
  • Jeera – 1/4 tsp.
  • Ghee – 1/2 tsp.

Method:

1. Heat ghee in a pan.

2. Add urad dal, channa dal and saute.

3. Add pepper and jeera.

4. Saute till golden brown.

5. Add carrot and saute.

6. Add water, Cover and cook till it becomes soft.

7. Transfer to grinding jar, add water and grind well.

8. Carrot chutney is ready.

9. Optional: Temper with mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Tomato Chutney for Kids

Age: 1 year +

Ingredients:

  • Oil – 1 tbsp.
  • Chopped Tomatoes –  2
  • Garlic Clove –  1
  • Chana Dal – 1 tbsp.
  • Jeera – ½ tsp.
  • Chopped Onion – 1
  • Salt

Method:

1. Heat oil in a pan.

2. Add channa dal and saute till golden brown.

3. Add garlic and onion and saute till translucent.

4. Add tomatoes.

5. Cook till tomatoes turn soft and mushy.

6. Let it cool.

7. Transfer the content into grinding jar.

8. Add water and grind well.

9. Tomato chutney is ready.

Ingredients for Tempering

  • Curry Leaves –  5
  • Mustard – ¼ Tbsp.

For Tempering

1. Heat oil in a pan.

2. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves.

3. Add in chutney.
