They say the only ones who are awake late at night are the lonely and the loved. The former find it hard to fall asleep when all they have to do is dream with open eyes about their beloved. It's almost a compulsion.

But what about the lonely? All the artists, the dreamers; the ones who hold tight to a reality they don't understand and want to explain?

I'd no idea what to expect from this novella. The author follows this blog. When I saw they were a writer as well and this was a freebie on Amazon I decided to give it a shot. I liked the title and the book intrigued me. I read it fairly quickly, in about 20 minutes and wish it had been 200 or 300 pages longer. The premise is simple, two people, once love's young dream break up. The novella is narrated alternatively by both of them exploring how they cope (or not) without each other in the weeks and months after the break-up. I loved the way the novella is structured, allowing us to get both sides of the story. As you can expect, things are not black and white and both stories are similar and different. The writing is very vivid. The author has written a few more pieces which I will check out.
