2017 in Review.

By Thesamanthashow

People always told me time moved faster once you have children. And that couldn’t be more true. As I stare at my almost-4-year-old and almost-6-year-old, I’m not quite sure how it happened.

Life has been crazy and I can thank the military life for most of that. With a move at the end of 2016 and then an unexpected move in July of 2017, life has been anything but dull. There have been a lot of emotions, adjustments, and transitions for everyone and I’m hoping that 2018 will bring a sense of peace and calm. But who really knows, I suppose! But I know we won’t be moving this year so I can at least count on stability!

Here’s a look back at 2017:

January: We moved a few days before the start of the new year so I would say this is basically when we moved. It’s when all of our household goods got delivered and we started a new life in Washington, D.C.

This was also the month my husband had his second back surgery and ultimately, would lead to his medical discharge from the Army.

February:  I turned 30! Which felt like just another day and birthday haha

I was featured in People StyleWatch (a dream come TRUE)

I went to my first New York Fashion Week and was smitten. It was such a surreal experience and I learned a lot about the industry, made new connections, and had the best time with Kelly.

March: I had a little reunion with 4 of my roommates from college.

Some of our friends from Georgia came to visit over their Spring Break and we explored all the touristy things around our nation’s capital.

Z and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary.

We experienced the famous Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.

April: We went to Ohio for Easter to spend time with family.

I attended events with the NOVA bloggers (who I miss dearly).

May: I attended an inspiring lunch for No Kid Hungry with other local bloggers.

I hosted Mother’s Day brunch and we headed to the zoo (one of our favorite things in D.C)

I had my first Lash Lift (obsessed)

I was diagnosed with Shingles (seriously, the flippin worst).

We went to Lake Norman, North Carolina for Memorial Day.

June: We went to Ohio for my cousin’s wedding and a mini vacay.

Lady had her first dance recital.

July: We threw my sister-in-law a pink and gold bridal shower.

We took the kids to the cutest kid amusement park.

We bought a house and the kids and I moved back to Cleveland. Z stayed behind to outprocess and basically just wait for his official orders.

August: The kids started Kindergarten and preschool (tears were shed).

Our friends got married in Cincinnati.

We went to Duck, NC for a long weekend.

September: I went to NYC for New York Fashion Week.

My little brother got married for a perfect fall wedding.

October: Z moved home (finally).

I flew down to Atlanta for the AmericasMart Apparel Market for The Blog Societies.

November: We celebrated Thanksgiving with family.

We took the kids downtown to the Great Lakes Science Center.

December: We celebrated our first Christmas in our new home.

I have a lot of amazing things already planned for the new year and I’ve got a lot of things I want to accomplish! I hope you guys have a happy and healthy New Years Eve and I’ll see you in 2018! XO
