2016 Election Proves It - Negative Campaigning Works

Many people say they don't like negative campaigning, and say they want all the candidates to run a positive issue-oriented campaign. But do they really mean it? The outcome of the 2016 election would tend to show it's not true.
The chart above is from a new Rasmussen Poll -- done on November 7th and 8th of a random national sample of 1,000 voters, and has a margin of error of 3 points.
The poll shows that voters believe Trump ran a much more negative campaign (61% to 41%), and Clinton ran a more positive campaign (32% to 18%). But Trump won.
People may claim they don't like negative campaigning, but when they went to the polls this year they voted for the negative campaigner. Unfortunately, negative campaigning works.
