2015 NKBA Student Design Competition Winners

History was made this year at the 2015 NKBA Student Design Competition. For the first time since the contest began, competitors were asked to design a bathroom and kitchen for an actual home Tennessee. The winning design would actually be incorporated into the construction of the home. This forced the student designers to take into consideration the limitations of the project, as well as the clients’ needs and preferences. For the winning student, this presents a great opportunity to get real world experience as well as jump start their career with $10,000 in scholarships and prizes.

The future of the bathroom industry is in the hands of these student designers who are learning the tools of the trade. Their design choices reflect the evolving tastes of coming generations. The bathroom concepts reflect a desire for clean lines and flat solid surfaces common in modern design. Storage space for organization is an obvious priority as the bathroom vanity incorporates more shelf space and large cabinets. Glass enclosed showers appear to continue their growth in popularity with the younger generation.
