2014 Awards – Breakthrough Male

By Newguy

Through the month of January I will be looking back on 2014, I will be looking at a range of subjects where I will be picking my best or worst in separate posts.

Today I will be look at Breakthrough Male. Today I am going to look at the male stars who have made their impact in the business this year.

Mentions that could have been number one;

Ansel ElgortThis was a big year for Ansel following on his debut last year in Carrie. Ansel plays brother to lead in Divergent along with romantic lead in The Fault in our Stars. He is finishing the year with Men, Women & Children.

Brenton ThwaitesStarted the year with horror film Oculus, following it up with indie sci-fi thriller The Signal. Maleficent followed that up and was his biggest film of the year. He also starred in The Giver which was yet another teen rebelling against the world and also starred in action thriller Son of a Gun. This has been a huge year for the young star which has led him to get a role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean.

My favourite

Jack O’Connell Films – Starred Up, 300 Rise of an Empire, ‘71 and Unbroken. This year has been a massive year for Jack with the highly rated prisoner drama Starred Up, ’71 which is being tipped to win British awards and Angelina Jolie directing debut Unbroken which looks like one of the most powerful films this year.
