2012 Year in Review

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

The end of year is rapidly approaching–3 days to be precise. New Year’s resolutions will be made and some may actually be kept. For me, my January 2012 New Year’s resolution was fulfilled when I entered the blogsphere in April 2012 with HomeSpirations. It’s nice to know that New Year’s resolutions can actually be fulfilled when you have persistence and a whole lot of patience.

I’ve analyzed my site statistics and the posts shown below were the most viewed posts this year. All my posts were incredibly fun for me to write, but some of them were exceptionally popular with my readers. If you missed any of them or want to refresh your memory, please click on the photos below to see the full posts.

In April I featured a home in Orlando, FL that was built and designed using re-purposed materials and eco-friendly design concepts: the New American Home (TNAH) of 2012. It’s such a beautiful home and the architect Phil Kean, did such a remarkable job on this two-bedroom solar-powered home. The home boasts both LEED Platinum and National Green Building Standard “Emerald” certification.

In May, two blogs were really popular:

Celebrities and their Home Designs

I was pleasantly surprised when FireplaceNetwork mentioned this post. They were in love with this fireplace, which is located in Anjelica Huston’s Venice, CA home. The mention gave me a real high–I loved getting the recognition!

My husband and I traveled to Southern Italy (including Positano) to celebrate our anniversary. To thank him I did a slideshow highlighting some of my favorite moments.

Saying Addio to Italy

June’s blog on tree house designs was hugely popular. It seemed to bring back childhood memories to a lot of my readers.

July was my month for peer recognition and I basked in that glory:

I was surprised when ArchitectureLinked featured this post on their website. It was a proud moment for me.

In August, ArchitectureLinked featured yet another post on their site:

In September, it was all about Fall and its beautiful colors:

To say “thank you” to those who read my series on fall colors, I did a prize giveaway for a fall table centerpiece. It was a huge success!

In October, it was the start of the Thanksgiving theme.

In November, I gave suggestions on how to organize your Thanksgiving table.

December’s favorite was about Christmas.

What a wonderful year I’ve had, thanks to you! Not a day that goes by when I don’t enjoy researching and writing about my passion—the creation of beautiful interiors. You’ve given me the opportunity to express myself and share my passion, and it has given me great joy to see you show your interest in my blog by contacting me and following me.

My New Year’s resolution for 2013 is to keep blogging on HomeSpirations for another year, providing you with ideas and photos on how to design inviting spaces within in your home. Thank you all so much for frequenting my blog and for making 2012 such a fulfilling year for me.

Cheers!
