It’s the most wonderful time of the year…no no not that time of the year, although that time is not that far away.  I’m talking about the Spencerville Fair.  The 159th Spencerville Fair is now officially open for business.

The Spencerville Fair is one of Eastern Ontario’s largest fall fairs and this year is no exception.  Boasting 4 days jam packed with entertainment for all ages and 3 nights of concerts featuring some of this country’s biggest names in entertainment.  The fun kicks off this afternoon with $2 rides at the Robertson Amusements midway starting at 5pm and continuing until 11pm this evening.  Opening ceremonies take place in the Drummond Building at 7:30pm followed by a demonstration by the Fly High Trapeze team that you aren’t going to want to miss.

Friday is likely one of the most loved school days of every school year in much of the eastern Leeds and Grenville region as many of the schools bus the kids to the fair for a day of fun and agricultural education. Highlights from Friday include the ride all day bracelet day at the midway, for $25 you can purchase a bracelet that will give you unlimited rides at the midway from 11am till 11pm.  Let me tell you from experience it’s a real bargain, we did it last year.  The evening’s entertainment, age of majority required, for Friday features Devin Cuddy, son of Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy and Alan Doyle, the Great part of Great Big Sea…or is he the Big Sea part of Great Big Sea? Either way you’re guaranteed a night of world class entertainment.

Big Joe

Tebey

Dallas Smith

Plenty to see and do at the fair on Saturday including the annual parade led this year by Big Joe, the official mascot for the Ottawa Redblacks CFL team.  The parade kicks off at 10:30am at the fairgrounds.  Saturday afternoon is a chance for area farmers to show off their hardware in the, always fun to watch, truck and tractor pulls (this event features classes of garden tractors, antique tractors and trucks).  Saturday’s entertainment, again age of majority required, will take the Spencerville Fair to it’s Tippin’ Point with Dallas Smith and Tebey, an event we were thrilled to exclusively introduce you to in June.  If you want to get to know Tebey a little bit better before Saturday night be sure to check out our exclusive interview.  It’s worth mentioning that both Friday and Saturday night’s shows are separate from the regular events and require a concert ticket.  Tickets are $35 at the door for both nights.

Spencerville Fair 2013 Demolition Derby

Sunday is another day filled with plenty for all to enjoy.  Highlights on Sunday’s schedule include the demolition derby at 1pm and Marty Haggard and  Gene Watson in the Entertainment Tent at 5pm.

Of course there are plenty of exhibits and demonstrations all weekend long so for a full list of events and times be sure to visit www.spencervillefair.ca.  We will have a full wrap up of events on Sunday, special thanks again to the Spencerville Agricultural Society for inviting us back to cover this amazing event yet again.
