Details are sketchy at what happened in the New Mexico home of the Griego family, but initial reports say the 15 year old son of Greg and Sarah Griego has been arrested for killing his mother, father and three siblings. The 15 year old is being charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse
resulting in death, and is being held at the Bernalillo County Jevenile
Detention Center., according to the Albuquerque Journal.
Police have released the names and ages of the victims. They are Greg Griego, 51;
Sarah Griego, 40;
Zephania Griego, 9;
Jael Griego, 5;
Angelina Griego, 2.
Via CNN:
Greg Griego was the chaplain for the Albuquerque Fire Department and involved in several prison ministries.
"Chaplain Griego was a dedicated professional that passionately served his fellow man and the firefighters of this community," read a statement from Fire Chief James Breen. "His calming spirit and gentle nature will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Greg's extended family."
Griego was also a former pastor at Calvary Church, where the family still attended services, church member Brian Nixon told CNN affiliate KOAT.
Griego's brother, former state Sen. Eric Griego, issued a statement saying, "Our family is grieving this terrible tragedy. We appreciate the prayers and support we have received and request that the media honor our family's privacy during this difficult time."
Reports indicate the 15 year old son, Nehemiah Griego, allegedly shot his mother and father, but the charges of child abuse resulting in death, make it unclear at this time how the children died.
Since the left is already exploiting this tragedy for their gun grabbing agenda, because an "assault rifle" was reportedly used, it also is noteworthy that a 15 year old is not allowed by law to or possess an assault rifle legally in the state of New Mexico.
Therefore the weapon used was obtained illegally.
