Before they disappear for an undetermined length of time, of the 80+ films expiring tonight from Netflix streaming, I’ve picked 10 gems you should watch.
1) As Good As It Gets- Because if you haven’t experienced Jack Nicholson at his snarkiest, then you really truly haven’t lived.
2) Beavis and Butthead Do America- Because Mike Judge is a really good writer, and found a way to make a Beavis and Butthead movie actually not… well… suck.
3) Event Horizon- Might be the most underappreciated horror film of all time.Of ALL TIME.
4) Evil Dead 2- Or this might be. But I think more people appreciate the Evil Dead franchise than Event Horizon, so EH still wins.
5) Gattaca- When I first saw this in theatres, I think i was 14 or 15, and it bored me silly. I saw it later, and loved it. Expertly crafted. Great, little seen sci-fi gem.
6) Hotel Rwanda- In case you missed my post last week, I consider Hotel Rwanda to be the best movie of 2004, and the film that should have won Best Picture. Perhaps you should find out why?
7) Resident Evil- Really, another underrated horror gem.
8) Spaceballs- Because, Spaceballs.
9) The Look Who’s Talking Franchise- Yes, I know you didn’t know this, but all THREE Look Who’s Talking films are on Netflix. FOR ONLY A FEW MORE HOURS! Get to watching!
10) The Running Man- If you’re a fan of The Hunger Games and Divergent, you’ll probably like one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s earlier works.
Also leaving Netflix, and obviously already considered classics: Dr Strangelove, Rocky 1-5, Lars and the Real Girl, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Chinatown, The Terminator, Taxi Driver, two Star Trek movies, and a few James Bond movies.
Also leaving Netflix, and you’re not missing much: Spanglish, Monkeybone, and Stuart Saves His Family.
